Can You Make Your Body Produce Collagen?
You've probably read about the importance of collagen in keeping your skin young and firm looking.
Collagen provides the cushion between your bones and your epidermis (outer layer of skin) to give your skin shape and support. And it makes up 30% of the protein in your body so you can see the loss in sagging skin and wrinkles.
As you get older, your body stops producing as much collagen as it once did. I started doing some research on how make the body produce collagen. I looked at those creams with collagen in them and those other collagen treatments like injections but what it boils down to is your body really has to make its own.
But first let's look at these other methods. Collagen injections do work. But they're expensive, painful and there's downtime involved. Plus, they're temporary! All that for just 6-9 months of plumped up skin. I don't know about you, but that isn't going to work for me.
Very popular right now are those "collagen creams". You know, the ones that advertise collagen in them. Sounds like a good idea but unfortunately scientists have proved the particles in collagen are too large to penetrate your skin. So basically, the collagen sits on the surface and is later washed off.
So how can you make your body produce collagen you can use to keep your skin smooth and shapely?
One ingredient I use daily is called Cynergy TK, this cutting edge new ingredient contains Functional Keratin, a protein derived from New Zealand sheep. Sounds crazy I know, but this company devised a way to process the keratin so your skin can use it like its own.
Studies show an increase in collagen and elastin production after just 18 days of using this substance! Plus, it's proven to help your skin retain moisture longer and it helps in overall cell renewal.
Another exciting ingredient that will strengthen your existing collagen and elastin fibers is a Japanese sea kelp called Phytessence wakame. This powerful antioxidant slows down aging by inhibiting an aging enzyme your body starts to produce. Phytessence wakame helps your body maintain or increase it's hyaluronic acid which is the acid that acts as a "glue" to hold your collagen and elastin fibers together.
