Get Rid of the Gut - Two Quick Myths on Abs Training
How often do you do sit ups? Every day?
Most every guy I see at the gym (and la dies included) want to improve their mid section. Do you constantly train your abs? Are you seeing the results with inches lost on your waistline? Do you feel the burn with you abs training?
I train at a serious bodybuilder gym. Many guys who train aspiring to be natural bodybuilders. During contest time, many flash their abs in the mirrors of the gym. It's pretty gratifying once the abs are visible you can see the lines, cut of that eight pack. Look, let me tell you this. You can do 1,000 crunches but if you have a thick layer of fat on top of that muscle, you'll never see that definition.
Skip The Training.
I'm not saying you quit training abs. However, you'll need to train then like any other major muscle group. Those abs muscles need adequate recovery just like the chest or back muscles. I would suggest you don't train the abs for more than 3 days a week.
If Doesn't Have To Be 100.
What I mean is, you can feel the struggle in the midsection when doing moves in a minimal amount of repetitions. It doesn't have to be a ton of reps, not 50 or even 100 reps. I could be as little as 15 reps. If the body is challenged enough with good form and enough weight to work the area, you won't need many reps. It's about quality, not quantity. Get rid of that layer of fat. Build that solid muscular foundation first. Keep your reps between 8 to 20.
