Exercising Regularly - How to Make Good on Keeping That Prom
What makes sticking to commitments and resolutions we make so difficult? The easy part is finding excuses to justify not keeping our promises or fulfilling our commitments. Working out and exercising on a regular basis is a common promise that we often find difficult to keep.
Setting unrealistic goals and expectations around your exercise program will set you up for failure. You are more likely to accomplish and stick to your exercise program, if you set yourself simple and achievable goals. Make the main objective of working out the desire to be healthy, have fun and stay fit. Do not make losing thirty pounds in one month or dropping two dress sizes fast your main objective. Exercising should be a lifestyle choice that you embrace. Of course, there are people who need to focus on exercising to achieve significant weight loss, the premise behind the objective setting remains the same however.
If you love and enjoy doing something, then the effort required is minimal and makes it easier to do. This philosophy is essential in finding an exercise program that works for you. To make good on your promise to exercise regularly, you must find an activity which you love and enjoy. When you make doing exercise as effortless as possible then you will find that it is much easier to stick to your program.
Take a minute to think about an activity you truly enjoy. Now take that activity and put some effort into it, I am sure that by doing so you can make it a form of exercise. Think about riding a bicycle, playing with your kids, walking, hiking, dancing and you will see that the possibilities are endless. If an outdoor activity is difficult to do, think about some fun filled indoor activity. Consider the alternatives of workout DVDs. The FIRM, for example, offers a truly wide range of workout DVDs that are fun to do and highly effective and will have you sweating away in no time.
Focus your exercise goals on keeping healthy and staying fit and you will reap that all important reward of looking good. Try to set yourself realistic goals and expectations so that you won't be tempted to abandon your regular routine because you fail to perceive those unrealistic results. When you consider exercise a lifestyle choice and not simply a quick fix measure for the next party then making good on that promise will be much easier.
